ResNet Registration

Information on how to register a computer to ResNet.

Students are able to register their computers and/or gaming consoles through an automated system. Every hall is equipped with a switch and three Ethernet cords; with the exception of Taylor Hall, which has three Ethernet cords only. Upon moving into the residence halls, a student would have to setup up their computer before the registration process can be started.

The following steps should be taken to setup the computers/gaming consoles that need Internet in the residents’ hall room:

1.     Run an Ethernet cord from the data jack to the switch in the room.

2.     Run one of the remaining Ethernet cords from the switch to any of the computer/gaming consoles in the room.

a.     Repeat this step for each computer/gaming consoles that needs to be connected to the Internet.

If the student does not have a roommate, but multiple computers, then they should complete the steps above. If a student resides alone in the resident hall room and has only one computer then they can run a cord from the data jack in their room directly to their computer.

Once all of the cords are plugged in, the student should open an Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, or Mozilla) and the registration page should come up. If the registration page does not come up, the student should type in the following address in the Internet browser’s address bar: http://resnetreg.housing.uwosh.edu.  Students should log in using their TitanMail username and password, agree to the policies, restart their computer and the registration should be completed.

If students are having any problems with the registration process there is help available! On opening weekend, students will be provided a door hanger when they move in. If this door hanger is put on the outside door handle, this will signify that they need help to the MIO employees that will be walking around the halls helping students. During the school year if students have questions on the registration process, they can call the MIO at (920)424.0863 or email ResNet@mio.uwosh.edu
