Computer Lab Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ overview

How many pages am I allowed to print?

Residents are allowed to print 20 pages double sided.

If I need help in the computer lab is there someone who can help me?

Yes, each lab is staffed with a trained student worker, Residence Hall Information Specialist, or RHIS who can answer any questions residents may have.

If there is no one in the lab, students may call the MIO at x0863 between 8am and 5:30 pm.

Am I able to print in color?

No, we do not offer color printing services. However, Reeve Union (Copy This!) and Polk Library offer color printing services for a small fee.

Am I able to print to the front desk from my room?

Yes, each student may print 150 pages per semester to the front desk through myPrint on the student portal. Students may only print MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel and PDF Files to the front desk.

What are the hours of operation for the labs?

Most labs are open when the front desk is open. In Donner, Scott, and Taylor Halls, the labs are open daily 8 am – 12 am.

Where can I save files to?

Students may save documents to their student drive (u) via the icon available on the start up application launcher. Do not save anything to the computer as computers restart themselves after 40 minutes of inactivity; this will result in the computer returning to default settings and any new files saved or programs installed being erased.

Do I have to pay to use the lab?

No, your housing fees cover the costs of the computer labs and the labs services.
