Webmail allows UW Oshkosh Residence Life staff to access their Groupwise email from anywhere in the world that has an Internet connection.

Getting Started

Before you can begin using Webmail, you must first set an access password for your Groupwise account. This will guarantee that only you have access to your email. The Groupwise password is a completely independent password from your Novell login password. Follow these steps to set your password:

1. Load up Groupwise from the Application Launcher of any Residence Life workstation on the UW Oshkosh campus.
2. Go to the "Tools" menu option and choose "Options...".
3. Double-click on the "Security" icon.
4. This will bring up the Security Options menu. Make sure the "Password" tab is selected.
5. If you had previously set a password for webmail, you'll have to enter in your "Old Password" in order to change it. If you don't know your previous password, you will have to contact the MIO to have it reset. If you've never set a password for your Groupwise account, the "Old Password" field will be grayed out.
6.  Enter in a "New Password". View our password suggestions webpage if you would like suggestions on setting a good password.
7. Re-type the password to "Confirm New Password".
8. Make sure the "No Password Required with NDS" box is checked.
9. Click "Ok". Your password is now set up.

How can I access webmail?
You can always access webmail at http://webmail.mio.uwosh.edu from any browser such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Opera. It's recommended that you have the latest version of the browser installed on your computer.

Is it safe typing in my password on the Internet?
Webmail uses encryption when communicating your username, password, and email messages.

I was from my computer for a while now webmail won't send my mail. It asks me to re-login. Why?
Because of webmail's security, if you don't perform any transactions for a 5-minute interval, the system will assume that you've left and forgotten to log out. It will lock your account from any further transactions until you log in again.

Can I change my Webmail password from Webmail?
Yes. Once you've logged into Webmail with your password, click on the "Options" hyperlink on the bottom left-hand side of the window.

Why do I get an error message with an error code saying my mailbox is currently unavailable?
Unfortunately, this will sometimes happen if you use all numbers for a password. If your password is all numbers try changing your password to include letters.
