The purpose of the Residence Life Graphic Artists is to take the chaotic strands of information given to us, and organize them into a clear, concise and creative graphic solution. Some of the expectations are to participate in the Professional Development Series that promotes and augments skills in the field of graphic design, technology and other related industries such as paper production, printing and advertising.Also to serve as a media publicity consultant for community advisors, program assistants, assistant residence hall directors, and hall directors, as well as other Department of Residence Life staff members.

Job Responsibilities


Under the supervision of the Artist Team Manager, the Graphic Artist will:

  • Complete all projects as assigned on a timely yet qualitative manner.

 

Expectations

  • Participation in the Professional Development Series that promotes and augments skills in the field of graphic design, technology and other related industries such as paper production, printing and advertising.
  • Serve as a media publicity consultant for community advisors, program assistants, assistant residence hall directors, and hall directors, as well as other Department of Residence Life staff members.
  • Be responsible for organizing, maintaining and updating all files related to projects.
  • Be responsible for purchasing supplies and other resources as needed.
  • Meet 4 times per month with Artist Team Manager to discuss and review current and future projects, as well as concerns, issues and suggestions.
  • Maintain communication with clients within the Department of Residence Life and the UW Oshkosh community.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by the Artist Team Manager.

  • Opening day posters
  • Leadership projects
  • Staff orientation
  • Mid-Year Conference
  • Staff selection (CA, PA, ARHD, RHD)
  • EAA
  • Awareness Poster Series
  • Special departmental and program related projects

 

Application Procedure

  • Submit your Job Application online.
  • Once a screen has occurred, you will be notified via email or phone of your status in the selection process
  • Should you be contacted to set up an interview, you will need to bring the following items:
    • 5 Graphic Computer pieces of work that speak of your knowledge of computer graphics and your ability to design
    • 5 pieces of work from your portfolio that were completed by means other than that of the computer. (Drawings, paintings, sculpture, etc.)
    • A process booklet for one of the computer graphic art pieces that you have chosen.

 

Wages and Hours

 

  • Hours During the school year: 15-20 hours/week
  • During the break periods: 20 hours/week During summer: 40 hours/week.
  • Must be able to work two full semesters and a summer to be eligible.
  • Wages: Level III position $8.15/hour starting
